TROPHY HUNTING

An ideal habitat for authentic trophy hunting.

Noasanabis Game Lodge offers the Rifle and Bow Hunter the opportunity to harvest excellent trophies and attention is given to every detail. At least twenty-two species of African game occur in abundance, including the Sable, Nyala, Letshwe, Roan, Kudu, Oryx, Zebra, Blesbok, Hartebeest, Springbok, Warthog, Eland and Wildebeest. Numerous smaller game and a wealth of bird life can also be observed. Wing shooting will be allowed.

We offer an ideal habitat for authentic trophy hunting. The scenic but versatile Kalahari landscape, African hospitality and our experienced Professional Hunter (PH) will ensure a magical hunting experience for you.

Justus Muller will be your host and outfitter. He has years of experience with bow hunting and rifle hunting and know the veld like the palm of his hand.  He is a legend and will ensure an epic hunting experience, which will never be forgotten.

HUNTING METHODS

Hunts are only conducted on foot, based on the fair chase principle. Please note that shooting from a vehicle is strictly prohibited. Game is located while cruising in a 4 X 4 vehicle. A large area can be covered without losing valuable hunting time walking through dead terrain. Once game has been spotted, the stalk is planned and the vehicle drives away, leaving the hunter and his guide in a suitable position.

Walking distance will not exceed three miles per day. The PH will bring you in a shooting distance between 80 to 200 yards. “Shooting sticks” (a rest for your rifle to ensure a stable position to shoot from) will then be set up. Once the stalk is completed, the vehicle will pick you up.

Spotting and Stalking

Spotting and stalking can prove to be a challenge due to the terrain and the awareness of our wildlife. An area is selected for stalking where game is in abundance. Ambushing is normally the best hunting method while stalking.

Fair Chase Principles

Every sport hunter should pursue an animal only by engaging in a fair chase. Fair chase is defined as “the pursuit of a roaming animal possessed of the natural behavioral inclination to escape from the hunter and fully free to do so.”

The animal is to be hunted without an artificial light source, and not from a motorised mode of transportation. No hunter may take female animals with dependent young ones. A sport-hunted animal should exist as a naturally interacting member of a sustainable wild population, located in an area large enough for it to breed and forage or hunt freely. Hunted animals should be sustained within a natural state of balance between forage, predators and prey.

Hunting Application

A separate permit for each individual hunting client is issued by the Namibian MET prior to the start of the hunt. A maximum of two trophies per specie may be harvested, per hunting client per permit. Additional special permits with additional conditions are required for hunting large cats (leopard, cheetah and lion).

BOW HUNTING

At least 22 species can be hunted at Noasanabis Game Lodge. An average of four trophies are usually taken during a 7-day bow-hunting safari.

The game farm has some of the highest populations for plains game hunting and its variety of African trophy hunting species makes it a paradise for any hunter, with the climate and terrain making it well-adapted to bow hunting.

Blinds and Bow Hunting Hides

Most successful bags are made from permanently constructed blinds. These are situated approximately 20 yards from the waterholes and saltlicks. Some blinds are elevated and some are grounded, depending on the terrain.

The blinds are spacious with overhead roofs. Ports are adjustable to suit both sitting and standing positions.

Most bow hunts take place from strategically positioned bow hunting blinds, ground hides and elevated stands near the waterholes and salt licks which is usually the preferred method during the drier winter months, June to August and the early spring months, September to mid-October.

Our bow hunting blinds are constructed specifically for bow hunting, they are very comfortable, have enough room for 3/4 people and you can stand up in them to bow hunt. Each bow hunter will receive a cooler bag with a meal, snacks and drinks for a delightful time in the hide.
